Last summer we were around the Valley of Hecho and Ansó in Huesca in order to undertake the ascension to the Malon de Acherito in quiet plan and doing night in the mountain. A peak of little technical difficulty that climbing it from the Indeed Valley requires some extra effort and in some places make use of the hands.

Crossing and ascension to the Mallo de Acherito - Pyrenees

He Acherito mesh (2374m) it is a mountain located in the Northwest end of the province of Huesca in the heart of the Pyrenees. His closeness with Navarre makes many of the paths like that of Linza shelter They are the most common, the latter being the normal route.

The route starts at the confluences of the canyons of Acherito and Aguas Tuertas, just at the end of the road that leaves from Hecho towards the Jungle of Oza. In the end the road turns eastward via GR-11 to the mine headquarters.

In our case we leave at night after arriving at a late Friday. The goal was to sleep next toIbón de Acherito since it is barely less than 2 hours Of the road. The bad thing that we did all this way at night and we could barely enjoy the scenery. Of course, we were looking at our feet all the way given the large number of toads that were on the path.

The night in the Ibón de Acherito It was quite comfortable. There was no one but us and the first rays of light made us get up early. During the night the summer dew caused the store to get wet on the outside, which caused us to wait a little longer to be able to keep it dry in the sack.

After storing all things in the backpack we begin the route to reach the top of the Malon de Acherito. Instead of following the normal path, via the Barranco de Acherito dolmen, we temporarily deviate along the right bank of the Pic de la Chourique, already in French territory. To do this was simply to see the Aguila S. d'Ansabère, a sharp tip of rock suitable for the bravest.

We turned around after seeingAguila S. d'Ansabère and we skirt the Pic de la Chourique until starting down to a shepherd's hut and from there to the Acherito ravine dolmen.

BetweenPic de la Chourique and the Acherito Mallo we walk between large rocks until we turn sharply to our left and begin to climb a fairly steep stone ramp. At first it seems that we will end up in a vertical wall but as we go up a quite obvious zig zag we will reach the step where we will have to put some hand but with little difficulty unless we have some vertigo.

Once up we will see theAguila S. d'Ansabère and to our left, barely visible, we will have the Acherito Mallo that at the moment will seem impregnable due to the vertical rock walls of this side.

We take the road to the left for 10 minutes until we turn again little more to the left (never to the right) and take the road that takes us directly to the top of the Acherito Mallo.

At the beginning we will have some steps a little bit where placing the hands will be the most appropriate, even so the difficulty is not big. It is very affordable and the pace is just 10/15 meters. The rest will go up a narrow path until you reach the same summit of the Acherito mesh (2374m).

The views are very good and it is worth being here for a while, which we take advantage of for lunch and even take a little nap.

Crossing and ascension to the Mallo de Acherito (Pyrenees)

To get down we do it through the Acherito orchard hill, a very comfortable descent and normal ascent route if we come from the shelter of Linza. Once in the hill we continue to the path by looking at the Foam of Gamueta of 2306m.

At approximately 2160m high, we turned sharply to our left to go down a ravine that seemed impossible to do without rope. There is a small step that is only evident until he finds it. Taken this, the descent is somewhat stony but safe.

Once down, instead of going directly to the beginning of the route where we had the car, we decided to set up the tent and enjoy another day of the mountain. Tomorrow would hardly be a 1-hour route and sleeping in these types of places is a privilege.
